FAQs
Is there a joining or registration fee for Oomphalos?
Oomphalos does not require a joining or registration fee. The only fees parents or carers pay are class fees.
How do I book a class?
You can book a class directly through the Oomphalos website, in the Book a Class section.
Do I have to enrol my child at the beginning of a term?
Oomphalos recommends enrolling your child at the beginning of a term as he/she will receive the most benefit from attending the full term. Repetition, continuity and security are very important to babies and toddlers, and by enrolling at the beginning of a term, parents guarantee their child’s place in the class for the entire term. If a class has not already reached capacity, babies and toddlers are welcome to join this class once term has begun; Oomphalos will pro-rate the cost to reflect the number of weeks remaining.
Do you offer any drop-in classes?
Unfortunately, Oomphalos does not offer classes on a “per class” basis.
How do I go about signing up for a free introductory session?
You can simply email info@oomphalos.co.uk, detailing which class from the term schedule you would like to try. Oomphalos will send a confirmation email to you, indicating that it is either okay to attend a free introductory session, or in some cases, inform you that because the class has already reached capacity, we are unable to offer a free introductory session. We do not recommend that parents or carers show up at a class and inform the instructor that they are there for a free introductory session as the class may have already reached capacity.
Do you offer a discount for siblings?
Oomphalos is happy to offer 25% off for siblings attending the same class.
Do you offer a discount when enrolling in more than one class?
Oomphalos is happy to offer 10% off when enrolling in more than one class.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Oomphalos accepts all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Switch/Maestro, Solo, and PayPal Credit Card. We regret that we do not accept cheques or cash.
Do I have to attend the class with my child?
Oomphalos emphasises nurturing the connection between parent/carer and child. As such, either a parent or designated carer is required to attend the class with the baby or toddler. Most classes require parent/carer participation.
How long do the classes last?
Some classes are 40-45 minutes, while others are 30 minutes. Oomphalos instructors are aware that the normal attention span is 3 to 5 minutes per year of a child’s age. Thus, a 1-year-old should be able to concentrate on a particular task for at least three minutes, and a 5-year-old for at least 15 minutes. In order to capture a child’s attention for the duration of the class, the instructors offer stimulating material, as well as frequent activity and movement changes.
Will my child receive individual attention?
Class capacities are 10,12, or 16 depending on the class. An intimate class size allows your child to receive individual attention and allows the instructors to enhance learning and enjoyment. A small class size is also beneficial with regard to safety, discipline and conduct in the class.
How old does my child have to be to attend classes?
Different classes cater to different age groups. Please view the Class Descriptions to determine the age ranges for classes.
Am I required to purchase any uniforms, instruments or materials for any classes?
The only class that requires any purchase in addition to class fees is the ballet class. Please visit this page to see the uniform required by the ballet instructor.
Do you allow drinks or snacks during class?
Oomphalos allows drinks, bottles and breastfeeding during class, but we ask that you please not allow snacks as it can be disruptive to the class. If it is absolutely necessary that your toddler eat a snack, we ask that you please excuse yourselves from the room so he/she can eat a snack outside the class.
Do you allow family or friends to attend a class in order to watch a child?
Oomphalos encourages family and friends to support babies and toddlers in all their endeavours, including by showing support and offering positive reinforcement while watching them or participating with them in classes.
Where should I park my buggy?
Parents and carers can bring their buggies directly into the classroom and park them along the perimeter.
Is there a lift at the venue?
There is a lift at the venue, but it is likely that you will only need to use it to reach the toilets in the basement as all classes take place on the ground floor. If you do need to use the lift, please note that it can accommodate double buggies. On the exterior of the building, there are three steps leading to the front door.
Are there baby changing facilities at the venue?
There are no dedicated baby changing facilities, but Oomphalos offers a changing mat, baby wipes, nappy sacks, and hand sanitiser should you need to change your baby or toddler.
